Mushollas in Unand (article for UTS)
MUSHOLLAs UNAND NEED BIG IMPROVEMENTs
Musholla as the most used and
the most needed facility in Andalas University, actually still have many
problems to be fixed. The officials of UNAND and also the users of musholla do
not care enough toward the cleanliness of musholla. As a worship place, Musholla
should be clean, tidy and magnificence in order to create a calm atmosphere
and make the users devout during praying.
There are some factors which make Musholla inconvenience. First, many trash spreaded around. The trash such as bottle, plastic, and tissue splattered on the floor. How come? Our religion taught us about how important the hygine is, but we broke it and made the Musholla as the holly place dirty. It happens every time I come to the Musholla. I find some trash. Nobody cares. No cleaning service cares. I think small trash bin will be useful outside each the musholla.

Second, there are some Mushollas
with a damp carpet caused by weatherproofing. The rain perks into Musholla
and the carpet is getting wet. People cannot pray on it. Then, the smell of it becomes worse and annoys the prayer. The carpet also torn at some parts which are very
embarrassing to look. It must get repaired in order to create a good Musholla.
Also, the worship equipment such
as mukena, looks grubby because of lipstick stain, sweat, and foundation. The smell
also makes us dizzy. It seems like the mukena had not washed for several weeks. Not
only that, the mukena do not neatly arranged. They are put haphazardly by the
users at one place.
Other than that, the factor that
makes musholla more messy is, no sandal provided. Sandals are needed by the users. The distance from musholla and wudhu spot is not too close, so sandal
is required to keep the users’ feet clean and to keep Musholla clean from
tarnish. Besides, the users feel
uncomfortable if they walk from toilet without sandal. They worry about the
najis that will broke their wudhu.
Some locations of wudhu spot also not
conducive, especially for women. The wudhu spots are at open space places which
everybody used to walk. of course when women doing wudhu, public can see
their aurat. It is an awkward moment for the women actually, but, what can they
do? the wudhu spot should be moved to appropriate places.
Moreover, there are some Mushollas which only has one wudhu spot. Can you imagine? The woman and man keep in line
to take wudhu and the man behind may look the woman’s aurat. It is really
pathetic.
This condition happened because of the lack of responsibility and concern from the user and the official of Andalas University. The Musholla need improvements and attentions from all of us.
